Family photography in Pinellas/Pasco Counties

As the holidays are approaching many families are starting to think of family portraits and sending out portrait greeting cards. However, due to the economy many families are on a limited budget. Finding a quality family photographer that won't cost you a fortune is only one click away. My best friend Erin is a very gifted photographer and has recently moved her photography business to Pinellas county. She is offering her photography services in Pinellas and Pasco counties. Her prices are reasonable, and her pictures are outstanding. You'll pay low scale prices, but end up with upscale photos. I have posted a recent portrait she took of my daughter which I adore. I have been blessed to have her take pictures of my daughter since she was born. Most recently she took some beautiful newborn portraits of my niece, which I have also posted. In addition to her affordable prices, Erin is running a special. If you book a photo session between now and Nov. 15th, you will receive 12 FREE Christmas cards! Wow, as if her prices were not already a huge savings in itself. To view the different card designs available, visit her blog at: http://www.iheartphotosblog.typepad.com/ You can also view more of her photography by visiting her website at: http://www.iheartphotos.org/ (please note the website does not reflect her new location as of yet. She is now servicing Pinellas and Pasco counties). Email inquiries to: erin@iheartphotos.org

Cherish your babies!!!

Although my baby is no longer a baby, she's always her mommy's baby! Tonight my babygirl and I enjoyed a great night out at the beach. The weather has turned a bit cooler...FINALLY!! So, we went to the beach to play on the playground there and ate dinner at an outside restaurant on the water. My daughter said the sweetest prayer at dinner; she thanked God that she had the best mommy in the whole world, and said this was the best day ever...she has said this many times in her little 4 year old life, and I love it everytime she does :-). After dinner was a special treat to see Toy Story & Toy Story 2 in 3D! She was so excited! We took some fun pictures in our 3D glasses and enjoyed some skittle snacks and laughs!
While we were driving home after a long night out, she fell asleep in the car. I was listening to Delilah and a mom called in to request a song for her daughter. Like me, she was a single mom. She called in a request because her daughter recently went off to college and was in another state now. The mom was saying how she missed cuddling with her daughter on the couch watching tv, hearing her laugh around the house, hearing her playing music, and their fun nights out. My thoughts of course went to my precious daughter. It hit me that there will be a time when my daughter goes off to college too and I will be missing all those same things. My daughter has the most amazing laugh, she loves to sing songs and play music on her piano and guitar, we love to cuddle up on the couch, and we especially love our mommy/daughter nights out. I started crying as Delilah played the song "I love you always forever, near and far, closer together, everywhere I will be with you"...etc, etc. I know this post has nothing to do with making diaper cakes or baby showers, but it goes out to all moms...and especially us single moms out there; as I know there are many of us today! Time with our little ones are soooo precious. Don't take it for granted, love your kids hard, hug them tight, laugh with them often, teach them the valuable things in life, give them security, let them know they are PRICELESS!!! That's all I had to say! :-)

Remembering 9/11

It's hard to believe it's been 8 years since 9/11. I will never forget where I was, and the pit I felt in my stomach as I realized our country would never be the same.
Today I am taking time to pray for our country, those families who were directly affected by that tragic day, and for all our service men and women.
As I watch the events of that day being played on Fox News, the emotions build up in me, just as they did that day. I hope I never become numb, and I hope that our Country never becomes numb to all that happened. We are a great nation, we must continue to defend our freedoms we have here. May God continue to bless this great nation. May we also remember how we were united as a nation and the patriotism that was shown in the aftermath of events that occurred.

Some idea for diaper cakes if you are planning a baby shower:

Diaper cakes are the "must have" at baby showers these days. Every new mom delights in receiving this unique gift, that is also pracitical. This past year I threw a baby shower for my sister with a few of her friends. My sisters personality is classy and elegant. I knew this baby shower had to be on the fancy side, with a little cute thrown in. Since my sister was having a girl and was naming her Lacey Marie, I decided to do a play off her name and went with a sweet pea theme for the invitations and shower. (Welcoming a little sweet pea, Lacey Marie) I custom made the invitations and wrote a little poem to give it a special touch. For the shower decor we set up 8 round table tops with linen and did tulle overlay with 2 tier diaper cakes as centerpieces on each table. I also made favor boxes that went with the color scheme of the shower (pink and green) and had those around each centerpiece on the tables. The room almost looked like a wedding reception. Instead of having a guest book for everyone to sign, I kept one of the invitations I made and had it matted so that everyone could sign a special message for Lacey and family. This was a great touch and keepsake. My sister had it custom framed and it's hanging in the Lacey's room now. I also made a 3 tier diaper cake with hydrangeas and had that displayed on her gift table and another diaper cake for the table we had which displayed a 8x10 framed maternity picture my sister had taken of her. We had diaper cakes everywhere! What's great, is my sister was able to easily take them apart and had over 200 diapers just from the cakes I made her, not to mention all the bags of diapers she received as gifts. My mom, Grandma, and I had bought so many cute outfits for the baby, that we decided to hang a clothes line on the wall and pin the clothes up to be displayed, it came out so cute! It's a great way to decorate any baby shower. We used the cutest outfits and tried to keep it as pink as we could!! It was darling! The food was delicious. Thankfully one of the cohosts husbands has a catering business so they provided the food at cost and it was beautifully displayed and so yummy. We even had chocolate covered strawberries (my sisters favorite). We didn't do your typical baby shower games. Our other cohost came up with some really entertaining games, which were a huge hit. If you've ever played Cranium, you can just take the same concept but make all the games baby related. The games were hilarious, and had everyone cracking up. We kept it to just 3 games, as we didn't want the games to overtake the shower and there were A LOT of gifts to be opened. My sister got so many beautiful gifts, and a lot of handmade things as well. It was a great shower, my sister thanked everyone at the end of opening presents and was moved to tears. It was a success, my sister said the shower was beyond what she could have ever fathomed. Oh, and one of her friends was helping her get the baby room organized, and while they were taking the diaper cakes apart, her friend came up with a genius idea! Instead of throwing away the beautiful ribbon that was used in her diaper cakes. They made hair bow hangers out of them and hung them up in the nursery as part of the room decor. They also used them to make bows on some of her little storage bins...the color scheme went perfect with the room. When my sister showed my all of Lacey's little hair bows clipped on the ribbon that I used for the diaper cakes, I was so pleased. What a great idea, once again something creative, practical, and pretty!! Of course, if the diaper cake would have been for a boy, then I guess the ribbon could be used for the storage bins, but not so much for hair bows!! :-) I have posted a few pictures from my sisters baby shower. I hope this helps give some inspiration to those who are planning a baby shower. If you have any questions or want advice, feel free to drop a comment or if you have thrown a baby shower as well and would like to share some of your creative ideas, we would love to hear from you!

Polka dot mood tonight!

I just finished "baking" up two diaper cakes tonight. The first one I made was for a boy, it has blue ribbon with green polka dots on it and white silk carnations. It came out so cute! I just love polka dots. Apparently my daughter does too, because when I was about to start on my second cake I let her pick out the ribbon for a girl diaper cake. She chose the pink ribbon with brown polka dots (with no prompting by me at all). I chose the pink silk carnations to go along with it, added some brown ribbon with pink polka dots to each tier to give it a different look. I am pleased with how it came out. It's amazing how these really do take on the look of a wedding cake. I love to see the finished result. Now, I would be so happy to get an order for them!

Both of these cakes are made of 3 tiers with 40 Pamper Swaddler size 1 diapers, ribbon, and silk flowers. Cakes are wrapped in tulle with matching ribbon.

Pokla dot Prince diaper cake - $30.00
Polka dot Princess diaper cake - $30.00
